Welcome to Wessex!

Fine wine from the South and West of England

The Wessex region can be seen as the cradle for the current development of english wines, starting in 1952 in Hambledon where a vineyard establish by General Sir Guy Salisbury Jones was the catalyst for english vineyard pioneers.  These pioneers included Lord Montagu of Beaulieu who planted a vineyard on the Beaulieu Estate in the mid 1950’s.  From these beginnings a dynamic industry has developed and Wessex remains at the very heart of the english wine revolution.

The association exists to support vineyard owners and wine makers across our 4 counties.  We hold regular meetings for members and an annual wine competition usually in November.  We also contribute to the ongoing development of our national trade body the UK Vineyards Association.  If you are considering establishing a vineyard or want to know more about the association and how to join it please complete the contact form and we will be in touch.
